Noche del Vino (Night of Wine) in Cómpeta

Cómpeta marks the start of the grape harvest with a night that runs from midday well into the small hours. Locals tread grapes by foot in wooden vats in the square, and Muscatel wine from the surrounding vineyards is handed out free to everyone who turns up.

Flamenco and folk performances fill the Plaza Almijara and Plaza de la Vendimia through the evening, with stalls selling local food and drink to keep the night going.
