Las Candelarias

Every September, Canillas de Aceituno celebrates a curious piece of local history: a 15th-century military stratagem in which Christian forces tied torches to sheep to create the illusion of a vast army approaching through the dark. The festival honours this unexpected tactic from the era of the reconquest with local tradition and spectacle.
