Gibralfaro Castle Free Sunday Entry

Gibralfaro Castle’s Moorish walls sit high above the city, with a walkway that loops the ramparts and looks out over the port, the bullring and the Alcazaba below. Entry is normally ticketed, but every Sunday afternoon the castle opens for free from 2pm, with last entry half an hour before closing.

There’s little shade on the walk up, so an afternoon visit is more comfortable than midday in summer. The small on-site museum covers the castle’s military history.
