Benagalbón Traditional Verdiales Contest

Verdiales bands from across the province compete in Benagalbón, a small town within Rincón de la Victoria, for a contest that’s earned official recognition as a Festival of Andalusian Tourist Interest. Groups perform in their traditional dress, wide hats trimmed with flowers, ribbons and mirrors, playing the fast, percussive style unique to the Málaga hills.

The exact date shifts slightly year to year but has traditionally landed on the third Saturday of September; free to attend, and one of the more authentic folk-music events in the province.
